Brewood Bowling Club
Brewood Bowling Club wish to thank the following for their ongoing support:-
Our Honorary Patron
Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson MP
Our thanks go to Gavin Williamson for accepting the Club's invitation for him to become our Honorary Patron.
In his capacity as Honorary Patron, Gavin has been instrumental in the Club being awarded substantial Grants.
Financial Support
Veolia Environmental Trust
We applied to Veolia Environmental Trust and were successful in being awarded a Grant for £75,000.
Brewood & Coven Parish Council
The Parish Council offered us the chance to lease some land (which we accepted).
The Council also gave the Club two Grants:-
The first for £10,000
As the project developed, the Parish Council presented us with a further cheque for £5,000.
South Staffordshire Council
South Staffordshire Council awarded us a Grant for £25,000
The Rotary Club of Brewood & District
We gave a presentation to The Rotary Club, explaining our aims and achievements up to that time. The presentation was very well received and, as a result, the Rotary Club made a donation of £250 to our club.
During the Club's Open Day activities on 16 September 2017, The Rotary Club presented us with a further donation of £464.
Councillor Michael Hampson, South Staffordshire Council
Councillor Hampson arranged for a donation of £250 to be paid into our Club's funds
Mr Ken Haynes, Brewood
Ken is a resident of Brewood and also a member of our club. He very kindly donated £500, out of his personal finances.
Brewood Bowling Club's own funds
We had £15,000 in the Club's funds. These funds were used to supplement the Grants and Donations.
The funds were built up by Fundraising Events/Raffles/Sports Sweeps etc.
Our thanks go to everyone who supported us by going to the Events or contributing through the other schemes, from which any profits went directly into our funds.
Professional Help and Guidance
Our Solicitor
Our solicitor, Norman Cheetham, Cheetham Solicitors, Penkridge willingly and professionally guided us through the Legal Minefield,
whilst the the terms of our lease were being negotiated. We are very grateful for the help and advice given during this period.
Our Architects
Our original architect (Nick Woodhams) did the original Green and Clubhouse design, which were used to obtain the initial Planning Permission. Sadly, in 2015 Nick suffered from ill health and was unable to continue as our architect.
We approached Kevin R Twigger & Associates Ltd, Brewood, and asked if they would continue the good work started by
Nick Woodhams. Kevin Twigger readily agreed. Kevin's own plans were then used to get further Planning Permission. We also used
Kevin Twigger's plans to get the contractors' quotes.
If we had scoured the country, we couldn't have had two more helpful , efficient and friendly architects.
Thomas & Co Solicitors, Bridgnorth
In 2013, Solicitor, Ian Thomas, helped us considerably to enable the Club to obtain the necessary Land Registration
documents. Without these documents, we could not have proceeded further with our project.
Other Support
There were so many organisations and individuals who supported us, either with equipment or giving up their personal time, that we were unsure how we could convey our thanks to each and every one.
So the following is a short list of those that gave is vital additional support (in no special order):-
Ros Burton, SSCVA, Codsall - without whose help we would not have completed even our first Grant Application.
Ros gave us many hours of her time (both work and free time) to guide us
through the application process.
Peter Doughty, Severn Trent Water - for selling us the Green Lawnmower and Scarifier.
Roger Jones, a local resident
and also Club Member - for volunteering his time and expertise, to help with erecting the first shed and also helping to install the toilet and wash hand basin
Del Machin, a local resident - for giving us a Heavy Roller
Frank Peach and Joe Stokes - for volunteering to mow the Green, on a regular basis
Frank Vyrne, a local resident - for making the fantastic steps, allowing people with mobility problems to be able to get onto
the green itself
ALL of the volunteers - who enthusiastically gave up their personal time and expended a great deal of physical
effort. These unsung heroes tidied the Green's surrounding perimeter, by removing stones and general rubbish. Without their endeavours, the site would certainly not have been as
inviting for our Opening Day.
These volunteers' names are too many to list , but they are warmly thanked for their help.
Brewood Cricket Club - our cricket club friends kindly agreed to our request for us to be able to practice our
bowls on the cricket outfield. Every Friday evening, during the summer months, there was always someone from our bowls club playing bowls. Whenever we could, we also enjoyed the cricket club's hospitality in their pavilion. Our thanks go to everyone at Brewood
Cricket Club.
