Brewood Bowling Club
We are a re-formed Crown Green Bowling Club (a Green existed behind the Three Stirrups public house until the 1990s - the land was eventually sold to a housing developer).
A Team of dedicated individuals worked tirelessly to get the Green built . The 'trials and tribulations' have been recorded on our Facebook Page - suffice to say that the difficulties were far more than anticipated. Only the dedication and hard work of these individuals made the final Green a realisation.
Our 'Thanks' go to everyone, who were involved in this Project from its inception to its present stage.

A little of the history behind the revival of Brewood Bowling Club can be found in the following extracts from local newspapers:-

On 24 April 2015 a significant milestone, in the Club's progress, was reached :- The Lease was signed by Brewood & Coven Parish Council and Brewood Bowling Club.
Below is the Express & Star report on this event:-
_______________________________________________________________
After we had signed the Lease, having already obtained the necessary Planning Permission, we then needed to concentrate on obtaining quotes and then finding the money to actually build the green - easier said than done!
We were fortunate that we had been recommended a qualified Electrical contractor, a qualified Water & Sewage contractor and also a Fencing Contractor. These were contacted and they immediately gave us their quotes for the necessary work. These quotes were
agreed and accepted.
We knew that we had to supply a minimum of 3 quotes, as part of our grant applications for both the Green and Clubhouse construction - this was a much more demanding task, which involved numerous and very intensive meetings with various Green constructors and Clubhouse builders.
The search for suitable contractors began in May 2015 - we finally received the required minimum 3 quotes, for the Green and also the Clubhouse, during late 2015.
Prior to signing the lease we had identified possible funding organisations. On a weekly basis (a lot of those times it was two or three times a week), we drafted out our Funding Requests - each Organisation had their own conditions and style of Application Forms, which made the task even more complicated.
We submitted five Grant Applications before the end of 2015. We were only successful with two of these:- South Staffordshire Council and Veolia Environmental Trust.
After even more meetings - this time they were committee meetings - it was decided that there would only be just enough money to build the Green itself (with the grants from South Staffordshire Council and Veolia Environmental Trust, plus the existing Grant from Brewood & Coven Parish Council, together with the club's own funds).
Unfortunately, the clubhouse build will have to be addressed in the future.
All of the necessary money was finally in the club's bank account by early 2016!
Our preferred green contractor (Arc Ground Care Ltd, Hartlebury) arranged to commence the construction in October 2016. Boundary Services Ltd, Wolverhampton started erecting the perimeter fence on 30 September 2016 and completed the major part of their project on 3 October 2016 - the same day that Aec Ground Care's equipment arrived, to start work. The Electrical and Water & Sewage
contractors agreed to carry out their work during the green construction.
Now the fun began!
